Find an Alt code that actually belongs here.
This focused table lists practical Windows numeric-keypad codes and keeps Unicode values separate, so a code point is not mislabeled as a universal shortcut.

The four-step Alt-code check
Most failures come from the input method, not the symbol itself.
The keypad must be sending digits rather than navigation commands.
The number row above the letters normally does not work for traditional codes.
Release it only after the last keypad digit is entered.
For the codes in this table, the zero-prefixed form is intentional and can change the output.
The common gotchas
How do I use a Windows Alt code?
Turn on Num Lock, hold the left Alt key, enter the full code on the numeric keypad, and release Alt.
Can I use the number row above the letters?
Usually no. Traditional Windows Alt codes listen for the numeric keypad. Some laptops offer an embedded keypad through Fn, but the mapping is model-specific.
Why are some symbols missing an Alt code?
Unicode contains far more characters than the legacy Alt-code input system. Use Character Map, the Windows symbol panel, Word Unicode conversion, or copy/paste for those symbols.
Do these codes work on macOS?
No. macOS uses Option shortcuts and Character Viewer. The Mac method is listed where a reliable U.S.-layout shortcut exists.
